In many grassroots communities across Nigeria, young people’s talents often remain unseen and untapped.
Not because they lack potential, but because they lack platforms to express it; access to learning, tools, networks, visibility, and opportunities to put their abilities to work.

Afon Makerspace · Kwara State
A story from our first decade
Abu arrived at 18 with curiosity. A year later, he was helping lead a makerspace.
He learned by working alongside other young people, experimenting with local materials, teaching children, and helping turn ideas into practical projects.
From tyre chairs and bamboo projects to computer literacy and early explorations of turning waste into fuel, the work was never limited to one discipline.
By 2017, Abu had become the Makerspace Centre Manager. Until 2021, he helped another generation discover what they could make, teach, and contribute.
The outcome was not one project. It was a person learning that he could build—and help others build too.

Makerspace
Where curiosity becomes something you can hold.
Our community makerspace in Afon is a physical, shared environment where children and youth access tools, learn from one another, experiment with materials, and respond to real community challenges.

Digital Sparks
Better tools for the people who teach.
An eight-week virtual fellowship for rural and peri-urban teachers in Nigeria and Rwanda, turning everyday classroom challenges into practical, creative, and digital learning experiences.

Makerpreneur
From practical ability to a viable enterprise.
Our venture-building programme helps young makers combine technical and creative skills with prototyping, production, sales, technology, and entrepreneurship; so a working idea can become a useful product at scale.

Creative Classroom
Make the lesson visible, tangible, and memorable.
Everyday and discarded materials become models, teaching aids, and DIY projects that help pupils and students explore abstract ideas through making, observation, and play.
